EU Services Earns G7 Master Printer Qualification
Rockville, Md., direct marketing production facility achieves distinguished designation from IDEAlliance.

EU Services has earned the prestigious G7 Master Printer Qualification from IDEAlliance, a nonprofit organization that advances best practices in printing.

The new IDEAlliance "proof-to-print process" known as G7 is currently being applied to many types of printing, including commercial and publication printing, newsprint, and even flexo.

The G7 Master Status awarded to EU Services on September 4 indicates the facility has calibrated its equipment and systems to G7 gray balance and neutral tone curves, and is capable of delivering G7 proofs and print products.

G7 qualification is a requirement for many print buyers who purchase in different geographic areas or across different print types, but still demand visual similarity in the appearance of print products.

For example, a buyer may want to purchase marketing collateral, packaging, and signage from different printers, but with the same brand imagery. If all the print products have the same gray balance and neutral tonality defined by G7, they will look remarkably alike to the human eye.

Forest Wathen, EU Services' Prepress Manager, notes that the G7 qualification process was extensive, involving six EU staff members and over a week's time. The results mean a better product for EU customers.

"The world of marketing and advertising has become far more complicated and costly," Wathen notes. "Customers need the predictability and quality control that comes when a G7 Master shop can combine the latest technology with the experience and expertise of the printing professional, who is ultimately responsible for approval of the final product."
