PRESS RELEASE

EU Services Publishes Intelligent Mail Barcode Brochure
The Intelligent Mail® barcode (IMB) was developed by the U.S. Postal Service to simplify the automated process of scanning and tracking mail in the postal stream. This new technology allows mailers to track individual mail pieces and results in fewer undeliverables. In May 2009, mailers who use the IMB also will have access to automation discounts. In 2011, all mailers who want automation discounts will be required to use the IMB.
Mailers who want to learn more about IMB are invited to visit EU Services's web site,
www.euservices.com, to access
"Tracking Mail Delivery Dates Using Intelligent Mail Barcodes," an informative brochure that breaks down the components of the new system and explains why mailers should consider making the transistion to IMBs now.
IMBs integrate the One Code Address Correction Services (ACS) and PLANET barcodes into just one, streamlined code that creates a cleaner-looking carrier. IMB is the most effective way to comply with the Postal System's Move Udate requirements that went into effect in November 2008.
IMBs are an easy, win-win solution for both mailers and the U.S. Postal Service. By updating addresses and eliminating undeliverable mail from a campaign, direct marketers can reach their intended audience more efficiently. Meanwhile, ROI gets a boost from reduced postage, printing, and mailing costs incurred by undeliverables. Eliminating bad addresses also helps the environment by reducing paper consumption and shipping-fuel intake.
Don't forget that EU Services's EU Experts are available to talk with reporters and editors about a range of DM production and mailing topics, including Intelligent Mail barcodes. For details, visit
