Mail Plus QR Codes: A Natural Marketing Team
Categories: Direct Mail Production, Promotional
If any institution promotes direct mail, that surely would be the U.S. Postal Service. In the context of QR codes, a mid-March discussion on the LinkedIn Direct Mail Group brought an interesting perspective from Louis J. Figurito, mailing solutions specialist for the U.S. Postal Service (greater New York City area).
“I have been promoting QR Codes (actually 2D Barcodes) to companies in NYC for over a year, " he said. "Many companies have started to adopt the technology. Since that time, I see [the codes] cropping up all over. I have spoken to large financial institutions about using QR Codes for transactions, as well as advertising. The applications are endless and every industry can benefit from them. The main thrust of my effort was to tie mail and the electronic medium together. That will keep both mediums relevant and make each stronger. It's a true win-win scenario!”
In conjunction with this effort, the USPS has announced a summer promotion for Mobile Barcodes that will provide a 3% discount to commercial mailers who utilize a QR code on a direct mail piece that directs the audience to a landing page.
